Study visit by Turkish civil servants to the Republic of Italy

Representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, other related ministries and affiliated institutions studied the institutional framework for the implementation of CMO measures in the founding member of the EU

Within the framework of EU Project “Technical Assistance for Development of a Strategy for Alignment with Common Market Organisation (CMO) Requirements”, a study visit was organised to Italy for fourteen representatives of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and associated institutions between the dates of 28th of May - 1st of June 2018.

The study visit was focused on the institutional framework needed for the implementation of the CMO regime. In addition, the target of the study visit was to demonstrate how aid schemes and intervention mechanisms are operated by paying agencies.

During the study visit delegation had several meeting with representatives of Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, National Paying Agency, and “Ente Nazionale Risi” (the institution in charge of rice).

Also, site visits were organised to two farms: The first one was Cetrone (located in: Sonnino, province of Latina) where practical information about the olive production and the operation of oil mills were shared with the participants. The second was visit to the Producer Organisation Centro Lazio (located in Sabaudia, province of Latina). During the visit, the representative of the Producer Organisation presented practical information about the Operational Programme and the intervention aid in the sector.

At the end of the study visit it was concluded that practical exchange of experience with the representatives of the Member States is one of the most useful tools in strengthening administrative capacities.
