Study visit by Turkish civil servants to Spain
Representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, other related ministries and affiliated institutions studied the Producer Organisations, Interbranch Organisations and Marketing Standards
Within the framework of EU Project “Technical Assistance for Development of a Strategy for Alignment with Common Market Organisation (CMO) Requirements”, a study visit was organised to Spain for sixteen representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and associated institutions between 1st and 5th of October 2018.
The study visit was focused on the Producer Organisations, Associations and Interbranch Organisations in the EU. In addition, the agricultural structure in Andalucia and Catalonia and functioning and recognition of producer organisations are evaluated.
During the study visit, delegation had several meetings with representatives of Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of Andalucia and Department of Agriculture, Food, Livestock and Fisheries of Catalonia. Also, a separate meeting was organised with representatives of Interbranch Organisation- ORIVA, which is focused on pomace oil.
Also, site visit was organised to the Producer Organisation “Sunaran” located in Seville where practical information about the lemon and citrus production and the operation of collecting-packaging-storage were presented.
Participants also visited “Mercabarna” in Barcelona which is central market for several agricultural products including fruits and vegetables.
At the end it was concluded that the implemented study visit to Spain had provided relevant information about the alignment of CMO legislation and exchange of best practices and procedures for the implementation of selected CMO schemes.
